What Causes Tender Cyst On Perineum?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 May 2016
Question: I noticed this cyst/pimple/ingrown on my perineum (pictures attached). I am worried it is related my only sexual encounter (unprotected oral only) 6 months ago. I got tested for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis and all returned negative (4 months after the encounter) and I had no symptoms. The pimple doesnt itch or burn, but is a bit painful when touched. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Bacterial folliculitis; Oral and topical antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am Dr.Kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Images.

This seems like a simple bacterial infection/ folliculitis. This is not an STD.

I suggest you to use a topical antibacetrial ointment e.g mupirocin 2% ointment, twice daily Or Neosporin ointment.
In addition you may also take an oral antibiotic e.g amoxicillin 500mg three times a day for 5 days Or cephalexin 500 mg three times a day for 5 days.

Regards
