What Causes Swollen Lymph Node In Armpit With Normal Mammogram?
Question: I am a 46 year old woman with a swollen lymph node in right arm pit.. had a mammogram and ultrasound, along with dr. examination, told it is nothing... it hurts sometime and sometimes causes body odor in that arm pit, what can it be?

Hi.
This is great if the clinical examination by a Doctor, mammogram and ultrasound of the breast are normal.
If the swelling is tender to touch it indicates an infection. Body odor in that armpit can indicate that this lump may either be an infected lymph node or a sebaceous cyst.
I hope the ultrasonologist may have examined and told you about the probable diagnosis.
On a safer side you can request for an FNAC if suspected to be lymph node and excision if sebaceous cyst is suspected. You can have a preliminary antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines to settle the infection.

FNAC and biopsy will make the diagnosis certain and make you tension -free.
