What Causes Swelling And Pain In Testicles After Smoking Marijuana?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: Hello, a couple months ago I noticed a major pain in my testicular region. I went to the ER because of it and they diagnosed me with epididymitis. Right after the ER I was prescribed 100mg tablets of doxycycline which didn't help so I was then prescribed Levofloxacin (don't remember the dosage). The Levofloxacin helped and it went away for a little. Now at the same time I am a frequent user of marijuana and have been for the past 3 years. I noticed after the inflammation got better, that whenever I smoked my testicles swelled up with a sharp pain that follows. Currently I am taking a lot of anti-inflammatories (advil, aleve, tylenol) because I seem to have a constant pain (even when sober) in my testicles along with discoloration. How is marijuana brought this back and how should I address the issue?

Brief Answer:
Testicular paain is due to repeated episodes of Epididymitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you had Epididymitis three years back which got resolved after taking antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications However you are getting repeated episodes of pain andue to epididymitis after smoking Marijuana.

It is known side effect of Marijuana to cause Suppression of the immune system of the body which leads to reduction in persons capacity to resist any infection causing common illness like Epididymitis to recur again .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and Scrotum
3) Color Doppler Ultrasound Scanning of scrotum..

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Refrain from smoking marijuana .This will help to resolve most of the health problem that you are facing.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
