What Causes Sudden Loss Of Balance And Unsteadiness While Having Anxiety?

Question: Hi,
I have been feeling slightly unsteady/wobbly when I walk. It's a slight unsteady feeling. I never lose balance or need to use the wall to stay balanced. I don't feel that I will, or I might lose balance either. Also, when I lay down sometimes I feel light headed/dizzy, but this feeling goes away right when I sit upright. I don't feel as if I am moving or if the world around me is moving. I'm not sure if what I described is actually dizziness. It's like a "funny" feeling in my head that starts and goes on for a few seconds, if I sit upright, it goes away almost instantly. Also, I don't feel this wobbly feeling if I go for a run or a jog, only when I am walking.
I don't get headaches or any other symptoms. I have done many balance tests, and I never feel dizzy or unstable when I do them.
I have been to my GP a few times and he says this is not anything to worry about. (I do have a considerable amount of anxiety as well). He did various physical tests and asked in depth questions, multiple blood and urine tests, ECG as well.
Lastly, these symptoms started about a month ago - I was quite sick with a fever and some weakness and felt very "down". The fever and sick feeling started first, and these symptoms sort of came along with them. At that time, I was told it was something viral therefore, it will get better with time. All other symptoms got much better within 2 weeks, this wobbly feeling as well, it is much better but is still there. When I went back to the doctor, he said that I most likely came across a viral illness a month ago and these symptoms (to do with the inner ear) can take a few months to go away even if the infection could have gone away within a few weeks. I'm just a little concerned and would like a second opinion.

thank you

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry, post viral phase will improve with time

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxx,
i have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
I agree with your GP.
The post viral feeling of imbalance may take few months in some person to wane out.
Also you are improving and no symptom of concerns is visible.
Since all your test are normal you should take only vitamin supplementations and healthy food with adequate fluids.
Get your blood pressure measured if not done previously.
Nothing to worry at this point of time.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back with further queries.
