What Causes Sudden Hearing Loss?

default
Posted on Thu, 15 Sep 2016
Question: Hi!
I sometimes experience a sudden loss of hearing in my right ear. It doent go completely deaf, but almost- like Im hearing under water. Its immediately followed by a loud beeping noise, like a tinitius whistle loud. Its all over in seconds, but kinda scary as I am under check ups for diffrent things like MFS Borrelia (lyme) etc and have weird sympotms which I dagnose myself sadly, to be dangerous stuff like brain bleeding, stroke, etc. I have experienced numbness to the scalp, etc etc, and a weird feeling that I actually have seen others write about online, a feeling that something happens in the scalp when getting agitated, angry etc. Like more tingling and a sensation in the scalp that is hard to explain. Like the veins are expanding. Also had a period of headache where it was only if I for example bent down to tie my shooes, and stood back up. When the pressure drops, the headache came. Not while bending forward. Thats gone too. But this hearingthing, can that be signs of any deanger?

Brief Answer:
It does not sound dangerous.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for getting back.

I have noted your symptoms and I would like to reassure you that these are not suggestive of any serious condition.

Hearing loss is most probably due to Eustachian tube dysfunction (a minor ear problem). Other symptoms are also non-specific. Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause scalp numbness.

There are no signs of stroke or bleeding, however, if you are concerned, a brain scan may be done.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
