Question: hi, I was walking across a street this wk and suddenly felt slightly dizzy. I felt like I could adjust myself though and keep from stumbling but nope. fell flat on my face on the wet curb. before I lost it, it felt like when a car pulls to the left. but all the way down it still felt like I could catch it and straighten up. never had anything like this before. am 54, take meds for b/p, and diabetes, oh and triglycerides. do I need to see a neurologist?

Brief Answer:
Get examined by a physician or neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Such an episode in diabetes may be due to syncopal attack, transient ischaemic attacks.
Is the vertigo persistent?
Any history of ear discharge?
Any chest pain?
Any palpitations?
Any weakness or sensory loss in any limbs.
You can better visit a physician or neurologist for examination and then go ahead with any investigations like brain imaging if required.
Till then you should take good hydration.
Anti vertigo medications may be started if the symptoms are still present.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

thank you, sir. no i do not have any history of vertigo, chest pain or ear discharge. i do however have loss of sensation in my hands. i just assumed it was due to doing a lot of keyboarding at work all day. or carpal tunnel. i can't put in earrings or do my own buttons most mornings anymore.
i do get shaky if I don't take time to eat breakfast on my day off, but on days i eat correctly (work days) i have no problem.
it felt like i was just bearing left for no reason at all. such a strange sensation. both of my older sisters have suffered many falls. 2 siblings have had strokes. so i have frightening genes i believe. :-(

Brief Answer:
Get investigated as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You need to get examined and evaluated by a neurologist.
Requirement for any test especially stroke related can be planned.
As two siblings had stroke you need to be cautious and get basic tests like hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, renal function assessed.
