default
Posted on Thu, 7 Sep 2017
Question: Hi,
For the last three or four days i am experiencing spinning head(very little), vomting sensation(a little bit) and feeling like heavy on back of my head above neck. Also headache sometimes.
Although it is not painful i feel the dizziness. Initially it started with pain on head above neck and latter it is with symptoms like vomting sensation and spinning head.
For few days i was working late nights and i thought it is becz of lack of sleep but even if had enough sleep i feel the same. What could be the reason? No other issues like fever or cold or anything.

Brief Answer:
Tension headachess

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Generally tension headaches can present the way you describe.
You need a week's of good sleep to reset yourself back to normal.
Till then you should improve your flluid intake, more vegetable and 7-8 hour sleep at regular times. It also makes sense to put in 20 min of power nap in the afternoon to reduce the stress.
Along with headache you would have gut symptoms like gastritis and presented by vomiting sensation and giddiness.
I suggest a tablet TAB PAN-D for my patients one early in the morning half an hour before breakfast for all such patients in my clinic.
Please come back to me after a week following above tips.

Spinnig head and feeling like heavy head is becz of stress?
vomting sensation is there but never vomited and no symptoms of gastric problem.

Brief Answer:
Check BP, Pulse CT brain

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Generally we advise a CT scan brain to rule out serious issues. You may want to go with that as well since it is ever changing.
However BP, Pulse are to be checked very important along with retina. If BP is high you would have similar symptoms.
A tablet of Vertin would definitely help spinning head.

Hi Doctor,
Today i checked bp in my company clinic. suprisingly it is 150/90. never saw this in my life before.
I got panniced and gone for usg scan douting kidney or liver malfucntioning.
But usg scan is normal except excess bowel gas.
Last 10 days i didnt get good sleep and diet was too bad with all outside food.
could that be a reason for sudden hike in bp?
what else i need to check? is 150/90 too high?
Can i not go to gym? becz i am started to visit gym as i am over weight. What diet i should follow to control bp?

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

do not worry about single BP reading. it is definitely high but it shouldn't raise an unnecessary alarm. you need a series of BP reading to understand how it stands.
You should hit gym regularly. initially it causes raised BP but gradually over months it would settle.
Diet should be fibre, low salt and low sugar. you can plan with a dietitian.

Hi,
I will keep on checking bp.
But dizziness, spinning head are still there. do i need to take any medicine to stop this? its not stoping me to do any daily duties but it is irritating. Some times i feel to settle down than walking or standing.
If i wait to monitor bp for next few days will it not go high?

Brief Answer:
Record BP and make a note

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If it irritates the feeling you can take tablets to stop the spinning. It increases the threshold for stimulus in the inner ear. There are many medications like Cinnarazine, Betahistine etc. You should get a prescription only as they have side effects like low BP, drowsiness so needs good monitoring by local doctor.
BP record to be maintained clearly for few weeks. It may go up or come down.

Brief Answer:
Normal life

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Heredity can be leading risk factor for high BP in your life. That cannot be changed. However you can change a lot, when it comes to other factors like overweight, reaction to stress like today ( lead to overshooting to 150/100). These can be changed definitely. reduce weight and start practicing yoga n meditiation and the outlook or approach to stress differs.

While you commit to these for long time you do not need to take BP medication.
You can share these Results to your family or not....it is up to you.
