Posted on Wed, 30 Sep 2015
Question: I went on my deck to put something on it and I bent down and when I got up I hit my head hard on the top railing of the deck. This happened last night and today the top of my head is very sore. Do you think everything will be okay?

Brief Answer:
Head CT should be considered if the injury was strong.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Its hard to determine the seriousness of the injury from the point of this service. Generally it is thought that head injury without loss of consciousness should not cause any brain bleeding. However sometimes, even without loss of consciousness the bleeding appears. Typical signs of brain bleeding are nausea, weakness, dizziness, headache. Unfortunately some part of bleedings does not give any symptoms at all.

If you have just a headache and the hit was not very strong, you may wait and see what will happen. If any of mentioned symptoms is present (headache is not a specific symptom), please consult your doctor and consider head CT.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
