What Causes Sore Throat After Playing In The Pool In A Child?

Question: My 3.5 year old was playing in the pool with some other kids. They were jumping, being thrown up and into the warer by some adults. They all played after the pool time, my son did not really want to ear much after (he is not a big eater anyhow), watched a movie, had some ice cream- was in a food mood. At bedtime he started to complain about sore throat... i put hin to bed and 2 hra later he woke up crying that his theoat is hirting him. He doesnt seem to have difficukty breathing, after drinking a litte bit of water- fell asleep by my side. Seems to be breathing normal. Is ir possible he may be experiencing secondary drowning?

In my opinion, as per your son's clinical history it appears that your son is most probably having throat infection only. Since he is not having trouble breathing, chest pain and coughing, secondary drowning is very less likely .

If I were your treating doctor, I would advice
Antiseptic Mouth Wash twice daily like beta-din & Syrup Tylenol for sore throat .
He will get relief .
