What Causes Skin Growths Near Vagina With History Of HPV Infection?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: I've had hpv that lead to stage 4 cancer cells of the cervix. They were removed and nothing more yet. During the finding I developed growths on and near the vaginal and pubic area. Doctor didn't seemed concerned, but they itch at times and change in shape and size often. They are flat, with a slight raise and darker brown in color with a scaly feel. They grew in a cluster of the vaginal area.

Brief Answer:
It appears that you have developed genital warts

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.

When did you get the abnormal cervical cells removed? Please remember that you need to get a PAP test and colposcopy repeated in six months type.

From what you have described it appears that you have developed genital warts.

Please fix an appointment with your gynecologist to get these removed. This is a minor procedure and can be performed in the clinic itself.
I hope this helps.
If you have further queries, I will be happy to answer.

The hpv was discovered during 2008. Removed may 2009. The growths began growth during pregnancy. They seem to change only during pregnancy or menstrual cycles, but they irritate the skin with clothing and intercourse. I've had a dr describe them as skin tags. Should I consult a dermatologist? I have also been told they are not genital warts and that my pap exams have stayed normal with no hpv positive since removal.

Brief Answer:
Consult Dermatologist for their removal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

Yes you probably have skin tags. They usually vary with pregnancy.
Skin tags are harmless. But since they are causing irritation with clothing and intercourse you need to get them removed. Fix an appointment with dermatologist for the same. Based on their size and base they can be burnt or frozen off or removed surgically.

Very happy to know that your Pap smears are normal since 2009.
