Question: Hi, I fella year ago on my right replacement knee. I have had a lot of pain since the fall. My doctor has ordered a shot for the "Bands" in my leg to see if this will help the pain. What is the shot and where do they place the shot?

There are a number of things that are given as a shot into your knee. It could be that certain fluids that simulate the lubricating fluid of our joint capsule, are injected directly into the knee joint so that the joint remains XXXXXXX and lack of such fluids may be responsible for joint pain where knee replacement might be necessary. This is more probable.

It is also possible that some steroids are injected in the surrounding structures which could have become inflamed and hence is giving rise to the pain. The steroids can help in reduction of inflammation and related pain.

I think that you should directly discuss with your doctor about his plans.
