What Causes Sharp Pain In The Lower Back Along With Stiffness?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: In the last few weeks, when I get up in the morning, as soon as I stand up, I experience a sharp pain in my lower back, just above my right buttock. If I stand on my tip toes for a minute and if I then start to walk around, the pain subsides..But I continue to feel some stiffness on the right side of my lower back. By the time I go to bed at night, there is no pain and no limits on my range of motion. But when I get up the next morning, the pain has returned. Note that there is no shooting pain down my leg, which I am told is an indication of sciatica -- just the back pain. Note also that I travel extensively and I often drag ans wheelie suitcase and a briefcase through airports, and I put a heavy carry on suitcase into the overhead bins on airplanes.
