What Causes Severe Itching On The Anus And Penis?

I have itching, not real bad, in my rectum. The inside of my penis also itches slighty. Been this way for about three days. I am 59 years old.

The itching in the anus and your penis may be caused by several conditions. The possible causes that comes in my mind are :
-The first, symptoms of a Sexually Transmitted diseases (STD) if in case you have had unprotected sex and you think that could be a chance that you took a STD, you should be checked for Chlamydia , Gonorrhea , Hepres , Syphilis, Thricomonas ..(by doing urine and blood test ) . In these case you may have discharge or lesions from your anus or penis subsequently .
-Thrush , Candida (yeast infection), this is often observed in diabetes person, a weak immune system, after using antibiotics etc.
-Hemorrhoids or other rectum problems
- Allergy to soap or other chemicals that you have been used recently . Excessive sweating.
So for confirmation, you need to be seen by a local doctor s/he will examine you clinically and do some tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Meanwhile try not to scrub the area, keep it clean avoid chemical use. Use loose fitting cotton underwear only, eat a lot of fibers and stay well hydrated ..
