What Causes Severe Fatigue While On Estradiol For Menopause?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Mar 2016
Question: Hi! This is a menopause issue (I think). I'm 61, female, eat right, get plenty of rest, active, blood work all OK, take vitamins, doing everything right, although about 30 lbs. overweight, but working on that, take 1 mg Estradoil daily. Problem? I'm exhausted for no reason. 2 years with this same issue and it's making me miserable. My doc asked if I still have my uterus, which I do, and she said I need to combine the Estradoil with progesterone, and my fatigue is menopause related. Your opinion? Thank you! XXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes, I agree it could be due to menopause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for trusting us with your health concern.
I am Dr. Abraham, OB - GYN.
And I totally agree, the exhaustion and fatigue seems to be related to menopause.
You are healthy, fit and the bloodwork is okay.
So please try the combination estrogen - progesterone and give yourself 2 more weeks to see if you feel any different.
Was a thyroid profile done, that is all I wish to know ?
And keep working on the excess weight, a leaner you would obviously mean a more energetic you !
Please feel free to discuss further.
Take care.
