What Causes Severe Body Pains?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 May 2014
Question: Hi Doctor, I am having severe body ache / pain and can not get to the bottom of it. The Rheumatologist ran some test and the only thing that came back high was the CRP was a 7.9 and my liver count was a 68. I have medicine to take for the pain but I am really reluctant ant to keep taking medicine for a problem that we have not yet identified. At one point the doctor suggested fibromyalgia and then she said well that doesn't mean something cant crop up later. So instantly my mind goes to what else could crop up later??? I am having severe pain in my arms and hands that they are still looking into this thoracic outlet syndrome. I have a protruding disc and a spur in my neck around the c7 and T1 but wasn't sure if that could be the source of pain in my arms and hands or not. Any insight you can provide on testing that maybe should be done or possible diagnosis would be very much appreciated. Sorry for the long book its just hard to explain all of this in just a few short sentences.

Brief Answer: Please send me reports of test done. Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your query. Please send me all the blood test reports including, fasting E.S.R, RA factor quantitative, serum anti-ccp, fasting blood sugar, serum uric acid. You have not given any history of fever, weight-loss so I am assuming it to be normal. I advise you to consult orthopedic surgeon rather than rheumatologist. He will do your complete physical examination and may advise you x-ray outlet view for thoracic out let syndrome and for protruding disc you should get MRI whole spine done to know the present condition of nerve compression. If all above mentioned investigations and test found to be normal, then fibromyalgia can be considered providing following occurs- 1) A history of widespread pain lasting more than three months—affecting all four quadrants of the body, i.e., both sides, and above and below the waist. 2)Tender points—there are designated possible tender points, which your doctor will check. Without seeing above mentioned test and investigation reports no one in this world can tell anything about what else could crop up later in your life. You can also send me all the reports of investigations and physical examination for discussion if you want. I hope it helps. You are welcome to ask further health related queries. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer 5 points for me, so that I get a good feedback.
