What Causes Redness, Pain And Swelling In Lower Legs?

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.There are two possibilities in my mind. 1. Deep vein thrombosis of calf veins. In this condition there is pain on pressing calf and swelling along with redness. It is confirmed by clinical examination and colour Doppler ultrasound of the calf. You are advised to use crepe bandage application and advised to avoid keep legs dependant ( hanging lower down) except during walking. Low dose aspirin and clot dissolving drugs are used to dissolve the clot. Treatment of these is generally done by general surgeon or vascular surgeon.
2. second possiblity is of heart disease such as congestive cardiac failure. In this edema and redness will be there on leg and feet but pain is generally not or less but there is breathlessness associated. This is treated by general physician or cardiologist.
