What Causes Redness, Itching And Skin Pigmentation On Vulva?
Question: Hi
I have seen a gynaecologist recently as I had redness, itching and changes in skin colour on my vulva. She said it is not pre cancerous or cancer, thinks it may be hormonal. Over the past few weeks I now have itching at my anus and I can see small almost black patches of skin just at the entrance. Any idea if this is related in any way or something different? Thanks.

The itching and black pigmentation in the area is suggestive of an inflammation in the area. This can be due to a local fungal infection, local excoriation due to improper cleaning or related to vulval ithing- hormonal cause.
You can use a topical steroid based antifungal ointment in the area and see if it helps. In case it is persistent then do get a topical estrogen cream prescribed from your gynecologist to combat the dryness.
