Question: I started having a patchy redness on the head of my penis. I have been using Neosporin which seems to help some but the redness won't go away completely. What cream should I use or should see a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Possibly Jock itch/tinea cruris, contact dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the query at healthcare magic

Patchy redness the genital area can be due to
- fungal infection tinea cruris, commonly called jock itch
-contact dermatitis especially if you have recently started using new clothing materials, new laundry detergent, latex condoms, new lotions, soap, moisturizers etc
-Patchy psoriasis
-Genital herpes but more commonly presents with blisters and itching
These conditions may also develop itching along with redness

The treatment depends on the cause. But keeping the area clean and dry, using loose cotton boxers instead of tight fitting under wear can help with symptoms.

I recommend that you consult a doctor as it is difficult to give a definite diagnosis without physical examination.

Hope I was able to answer your question
