Brief Answer:
Could be due to malabsorption syndrome or gluten sensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

It seems that you have chronic or recurrent diarrhea. This could be indicative of malabsorption syndrome or conditions like gluten enteropathy. The first step would be to take a gut specific antbiotic Rifagut (rifaximin) 550 mg thrice daily for 7 days. It is a gut specific antibiotic and a prescription medicine. So, discuss with your doctor. See if it provides relief.

The next step would be to try and avoid ALL wheat and related products since they contain a substance called gluten. The following link will give you a longer list of the same:

Try such a diet for at least 2 weeks and see if it makes a difference.

Let me know if I could help further.

I have tried Rifaxin, for 2weeks. I have been gluten free for over a year,I am now trying lactose free. I take a probiotic daily and Lomotil 2 bid,and I'm also taking Questran daily and Metamucil.
My main concern is the bright orange color of the stool,it looks like bile to me,could this be a Pancreatic or Liver problem??

Brief Answer:
The medicines could play a role in the stool color

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.

Getting a routine microscopy of the stool (including occult blood test) will help in identifying if there is anything worrying about in the orange color of the stool. The pancreas and liver are organs of the gastrointestinal system and your problems could result if there is a problem associated with improper secretion of the digestive juices from these organs. A clinical correlation is needed to be able to properly comment upon the same.

Discuss with your doctor about the consideration of a colonoscopy and an intestinal biopsy which could yield valuable clues to the possible cause of your problems.
