I have had diarrhea off and on for months. In the last several weeks, I've had other symptoms which seem to be increasingly worse. I have psoriasis on my scalp, and joint pain in my thumbs, wrists and knees. I seem to feel bloated always after eating, and can get pretty severe stomachs. I have trouble sleeping at night, but am very tired during the day. I seem to be losing lots of hair, and have gained quite a bit of weight without changing my eating habits. I recently had my thyroid checked and it is fine. Any ideas of what I should do next?

My grandson, 15 1/2, has NEVER had an appetite. Now that he is 6'1" and a focused, relentless athlete, he has finally convinced his Mom to get him tested as he is tired of being TIRED. The blood tests revealed that he is Vitamin D deficient, allergic to gluten and dairy and his testosterone is low. After 1 month of avoiding gluten and dairy, his dark circles are lessening and he is sleeping better, but still has no energy and tends to be depressed. Any advice would be welcome.

Hello, I'm 50 years old. I have Crohn's disease since 1984. I keep it at bay since 1995 by being vegetarian and eating lactose free. (Parmesan cheese older than 30 months is advertised as being lactose free). Recently I have diagnosed myself as having Duhring's disease or Dermatitis Herpetiformis. It was confirmed by a young doctor in the E.R. room at the hospital. So now I'm eating vegetarian, lactose free, and Gluten free too. How long will it take for me to overcome the terrible-looking, itchy skin condition that I have from when I stopped eating Gluten? Thanks so much for your responses. Maurizio Pieroni YYYY@YYYY

gluten intolerant
hi doctor,

I'm a 25 year old Asian woman. I have had constipation and acne problems all my life. I eat a lot of veggies, fruits and wholegrain. I've been taking fibre supplements too but nothing helped. In the last few years I also have irregular period, but this time its my longest (5 months since my last period). I've seen doctors and did blood test, they think I have pcos, but the ultrasound showed I have no cyist. Lastly I've heard about gluten intolerant, and this can lead to all my problems, is it true gluten can cause constipation, acne and miss period? how do I know for sure that I am allergic to gluten?

Thank you.

I have been diagnosed wih early stages of Celiac. I ve been very strict on myself for the last month in eliminating gluten. I don t eat it, I have made sure that all my cosmetics are gluen free. My soap, shampoo, etc. -- all gluten free. I want to get an ovarian ultrasound just to rule out the possibility of ovarian cancer, wheras my grandmother died of that -- and whereas I ve had stomach issues, I don t want to leave any stones unturned. I just found out that the ultrasound is internal and I read somewhere that gloves should not be powder lined as there is gluten in the powder, but what about the lubricant (ky ?- I guess) that they will use to perform the ultrasound. Is there gluten in that? Thankyou - Amy
