Posted on Fri, 25 Jul 2014
Question: Hi, I'm a 33 year old, male. I recently had a full body waxing. After 2 days acne started spreading in body. I'd consulted a dermatologist and he has prescribed me 3 tablets of azifast 500 for 3 days and Fucidin H Cream. My concern is after completing my course still acne has not disappeared and the hairs have also started growing. Please advice me.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
It is not clear about the correct morphology of lesions, distribution of rash ,
If you can send photos of lesion it Will help towards diagnosis.
Waxing usually has adverse effects like ingrown hairs causing pimple like inflammation. These are very common in those with curly or coarse hairs as the hair is cut to short.
The only best solution is allow hair to grow.
Now you may need topical antibiotics like Benzoyl peroxide gels or you may continue fucidin-h cream.
It takes some time to respond.
Oral antibiotics may be continued.
If pain or irritation take antiinflammatory tablets like brufen or diclofenac twice daily after food.
Do not cause friction or irritation.
To prevent such incidents:
Do not cut the hair too short next time .
Even while shaving hair also, you may get such picture if cut too short.
Do not shave against direction of hair.
You can get back if you need any clarification.
Thank you

Thnx a lot Dr Bharatesh. I'm uploading picture to give you a better understanding. I'm not keen to keep hair...on previous ocassions I have removed hair by applying Veet. But I don't prefer applying hair remover cream as later the hair grows hard and smoothness of the skin also disappears. Waxing although is quite painful, but I can feel that the hair growth and skin is normal. Only problem is the redness and pimple like inflammation, but as of now it is not causing any irritation to me. For the next waxing should I wait for the redness and pimple to disappear or can I go ahead with waxing. And will this redness and pimple appear everytime I do waxing or is because I did waxing for the first time. On a long run however I'm considering to remove hair through laser. So, would be seeking your advise on the same also; whether laser has any side-effects or not.

Thank You.

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on query given.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
Waxing again may have similar side effects for few times initially for those with thick hair.
Do not go for immediate waxing again when still red.
LASER can also have side effects like this or skin discoloration but they usually last for 1-2 days and may be milder.
You can consult your doctor for appropriate type of Laser depending on thickness color type of skin.
You can get back if any clarification is required else please close the discussion.
Thank you
Dr Bharatesh.
