What Causes Pus Filled Boils On The Body?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jun 2017
Question: hello doctor,
I'm 29 years male and I have been suffering from pus filled boils on my body, face and mainly on my back near the neck since so many days and for this I visited a general physician and he put me on antibiotics called augmentin 650 duo and told me to apply soframycin ointment on the affected area. Though I finished the course the boils tend to come back and leave spots as soon as they dry. Please suggest as I'm really worried I think I have finished more than 3 course of same antibiotics since 3 months. I really can't take antibiotics so often as I suffer from heavy gastric even after taking tablets. Awaiting your reply...

Brief Answer:
Management of recurrent boils

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
You are having recurrent folliculitis and it has many causes like diabetes, anemia, intake of immunosuppresive drugs, hot and humid weather and poor personal hygiene.
I would recommend you to get your fasting blood sugar and complete blood count done.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take capsule rifampicin 600 mg once daily empty stomach and capsule doxycycline 100 mg daily at bedtime for 2 weeks.
Besides this apply topical antibiotic like mupirocin cream in the nostrils, external ears, finger and toe web spaces, umblicus and perianal area.
These all measures will avoid the recurrent episodes of boils.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
