Question: I'm a 58 year old female - Have been having dull intermittent pains along with pressure in the upper abdomen area under the rib cage since March. Started on the right side and progressed to the left side. Had an ultrasound in early May that showed that the gallbladder, liver, pancreas and right kidney along with the common bile duct were all within normal limits. Symptoms were not abating so saw a GI specialist on XXXXXXX 20 who ordered blood work and a pelvic ultrasound as when I went in to see him my symptoms had changed to include a sore spot lower right side abdomen that was tender and hurt when I leaned against the counter. On XXXXXXX 28 went to the ER as my symptoms had progressed further to include a throbbing stitching pain in my left side that radiated to the front and back when flared caused extreme internal shaking along with electrical sensational up and down the entire left side of my body accompanied by weakness of muscles on that side and chills. This also seemed to be tied in to overactive bowels which were very gurgly and seemed to be stimulated by this left side symptom. Can feel the a gurgly feeling also in the upper left area just under rib cage. Food has been going right through since - I'm losing weight. When it flares badly I become nauseous and weak and my mental state is impaired as I have head pressure and dizziness that accompanies this. Also, my blood pressure becomes very high when this happens 160's - 170's over 90's. I was also running a low grade fever. I don't usually have high blood pressure. While in the ER they ran an EKG and other tests for my heart which all came out normal except for the hypertension. At thattime they also had the test results for my other bloodwork and pelvic ultrasound from my Gastro which the Er doc said was all within normal limits. On XXXXXXX 29 the day after the ER visit the pressure and intermittent pain I had been feeling in the upper abdomen seemed to quiet down however the L side symptoms have in creased in intensity and can't seem to quiet my bowels down and am losing more weight. When I went in to see the Gastr I weighed 117 with clothes on and this morning I weighed myself and I'm down to 122.4 lbs. I had a terrible flare with the left side yesterday afternoon - was only able to sleep for two hour intervals last night. A feeling very weak and helpless. Been waiting for a call from my Gastro since yesterday. Please help!
