What Causes Persistent Ringing In The Ears And Low Iron?
Question: what causes a person to have ringing in their years. I have had it for about 2 months and now I find out I have low iron. Is this the reason or are their other causes

Low iron is one cause of tinnitus (ringing or other abnormal sounds in the ears). If the tinnitus is solely related to this then it should improve with iron replacement.
Other Causes include: (A) excess wax or ear infection
(B)age related hearing loss or noise induced hearing loss
(C)due to medications- aspirin, ibuprofen, cataflam , naproxen and medication similar to these, if used for very long period of time , can cause tinnitus
(D)menieres's disease - a condition associated with tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo
(E)thyroid disease
(F) high cholesterol
(G)mass in the ear called acoustic neuroma
(H)head injury, MS
These are some of the more common other causes.
A hearing test can be done to check for hearing. Imaging to look at the brain to check for a structural cause eg a mass.
Blood tests for thyroid, cholesterol
If you have a history of using some medications mentioned, it is possible that one of these may be the cause.
