What Causes Pain Of Hip Muscle While Running?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Jun 2014
Question: I am a runner. I believe that I have sustained a hip muscle injury as a result of using Levaquin (prescribed to me for a lung infection last December). The hip muscle (glute) on my right side feels as if it has several hardened ridges in it, right where the hip joins the top of the hamstring. I have a burning pain in the area every time I run. This injury is unlike any other sports injury I've had---stretching does not affect it in the least---5 months of rest/diminished activity seems to have had very little healing affect. My question is, if my injury really is a fluoroquinolone "toxic effect," what can I do now to recover? I have tried PT and massage therapy---both expensive--- with no improvement.

Brief Answer:
I will advise you do MRI of hip

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.
As per your history and symptoms there can be involvement of adductor muscles or ligament.
I will advise you do MRI of hip and after consulting with your doctor you can do that.
For quinolone induced tendinitis you need to continue physiotherapy along with USG and TENS therapy.
It may take long time to heal.
Till time take analgesic and continue physiotherapy.
Diet rich in calcium and protein, B12 vitamin will help.

Many of my patients get relief by yoga pranayama and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so you can also due that.
