Question: I work construction and everything I do requires heavy lifting. Recently I've been on XXXXXXX hammer duty, and every morning I wake with pain in my right arm. Numb, throbbing, thumb especially. Like its thawing out. It's getting so bad it wakes me in a panic. Starts behind the elbow, all the way to fingertips. I had some vertibre fused 2 years ago.not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm in a lot of pain. Help

It can be a cervical spondylosis

Hello,
I have read your question and I am sure that it is nerve pain. Nerve compression mostly occurs at neck and it is called cervical spondylosis. Other common cause is nerve compression at elbow or wrist.
I would suggest you to show it to an orthopaedic surgeon and get your clinical checkup and x ray of the neck.
Till you get this,In my patients with such complains I advised following.
1. Tablet Pregabalin and Methylcobal daily.
2. Avoid heavy work for a week or two.
3. Neck muscle physiotherapy and intermittent traction exercises.
4. Avoid keeping neck in same position for long time like watching tv or computer. Also avoid using very high pillow.
