What Causes Pain In Lower Left Back, Left Pelvic Area And Left Hip?

Question: I'm 31 years old. I do have acid reflux and still drink and smoke. I know that's not good. I been having a dull achy pain in my lower left back but only for 3 days and not straight that comes and goes. I have the same dull achy pain on my left side right above my hip and in my left testicular. Now I have the pain sort of in my left abdominal lower side and into my pelvic area to the right of my left hip. It comes and goes. Can you tell me what you think it is. When I do have a lot of gas and I feel the gas in my stomach it goes down or up from my left abdominal side. I went to the doctor and one said it could be kidney stones but I don't think so they did a urine sample and everything came back well. I do have a slip disc in my lower back. Again, I do have a lot of gas and I feel it from my left side that comes through my chest. I don't have heart burn. Do you think this is serious or it could be ibs. I do have anxiety so please let me know what you think and if you would be worried or do you think it's minor. Can this be caner or kidney problems?

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle modification required

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query. The entire problem seems to be centered around one single problem which is gastroesophageal reflux. Our gastrointestinal tract has a forward propulsive movment (peristalsis) that moves the food material forward as it is digested, absorbed and finally expelled as feces. If somehow this movement gets hampered, food along with the digestive juices would stagnate. Stomach acids are meant for digestion and in lack of forward propulsive movement would regurgitate backward even though you do not have a heartburn. It is not indicative of cancer, kidney disease or IBS.

In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake.
* Take omeprazole once daily before breakfast.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Take curd or yogurt as it contains beneficial bacteria which should help.
* Avoid milk and wheat.

Hope that helps.

Let me know if I could hep further.

Brief Answer:
The role of clinical examination cannot be ignored.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Ideally a clinical examination is essential. It is meaningless to show surety without having clinical parameters at my disposal. However, I am quite certain that my suggestions would prove useful to you and that you should try them. For the rest, you would need to visit a doctor and get yourself evaluated.
