What Causes Pain During Bowel Movement?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Jul 2014
Question: This is strange and embarrassing. My butt hurts. It feels like it is on fire and has been for the past 18 hours. When I have a bowel movement it hurts and burns, and what I release look like floating pebbles. When I cough it increases pressure down there and causes increased pain. Help! What can I use to stop the pain and irritation! What is going on!

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Your symptoms can be caused by anal fissure or hemorrhoids. Both conditions can give strong pain especially when passing the stool. Itching can be present along with some mucus discharge.
The main reason of both issues is constipation. It can be caused by bad diet (low fiber intake, low mineral water intake, fatty foods, spicy foods), hypothyroidism or even partial bowels obstruction.
I suggest you to start with diet improvement (increase fiber rich products and mineral water intake, start probiotic intake). For temporal relief, please get Xylocaine gel and place it in the rectum area. OTC hemorrhoids suppositories should be helpful as well.
You may also have sitz baths with Oak Bark twice a day.

If it wont help in few days please consult your doctor.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
