Anal fissure

What is Anal fissure?

An anal fissure or rectal fissure is a break or tear in the skin of the anal canal. Anal fissures may be noticed by bright red anal bleeding on toilet paper, sometimes in the toilet. If acute they may cause pain after defecation but with chronic fissures pain intensity is often less. Anal fissures usually extend from the anal opening and are usually located posteriorly in the midline, probably because of the relatively unsupported nature and poor perfusion of the anal wall in that location. Fissure depth may be superficial or sometimes down to the underlying sphincter muscle.

I have recently had blood in my stools - the blood in my stools is at the end of a bowel movement - I have checked this by wiping my bottom and examining the stools at the start and there was no blood, I have checked this and wiped my bottom and examined the stools in the middle and also there was no blood in the toilet but a little bit of blood in the toilet paper. However at the end, there is a bit of blood in the stool and all that was from the toilet paper was blood. I have recently had a colonoscopy two and a half weeks ago because at the time I had a lot of gas and porridge like dirraeha, the colonoscopy and biopsy was negative for cancer cells and my gastroenterologist diagnosed me with a rare condition called lymphocyte hyperplasia and told me there was a bit of concussion. He told me at the time there was no haemorrohid or cancer seems like my diarrhea has stopped and in the past week or so, my stools have been very hard solid - for the past 4 days, I have passed banana like stools which are very long pieces and a couple of days ago, I felt the lining sheet of my anus has ripped - when I was passing stools, I felt like a knife has passed through my anus. I generally don't suffer from constipation as I have bowel movement everyday but recently my stools have been very hard solid. Bleeding only occurs at the end of a bowel movement and I do feel a bit of burning sensation afterwards yesterday but when I use Anusol, the burning sensation has helped a bit. There is no abdominal pain or tiredness. Blood is fresh blood - after I had a colonoscopy and biopsy was taken, there was bleeding on my first bowel movement but it stopped afterwards. So therefore I can recognize fresh blood.

Hi Dr. About 6 months ago, I noticed a white, sticky, fluffy discharge from my anus when I go to the toilet in the morning. The discharge is usually attached to my stool and the amount varies. It is not painful at all. I visited my local Health 4 Men clinic. I was treated for STI’s with an antibiotic. I was also treated for a possible anal fissure with suppositories. However, the discharge is still present in my stool. Lately, my anus is often itchy and the past week the tissue around the anus was tender and red. I treated it with an anti-fungal cream and it has now cleared up. For the past 2 weeks, I have been experiencing some slight abdominal pain (just below the left rib cage). This said, I was wondering whether I don’t perhaps have a Candida infection?
