What Causes Pain And Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 Jan 2015
Question: I have nexplanon, I haven't had my period in 8 months, my doctor told me that was normal.
However, last night I went to go pee and I peed out this red gooey like blood. It kind of looked like a cherry. It was chunky on the end then by like a string of goo, then the rest of it was stuck until I knocked it out with toilet paper. I also forgot to mention earlier that it had also hurt to pee the last 3 times. Can you possibly tell me what could be wrong with me?

Brief Answer:
Uro-vaginal infection,further confirmatory tests advised...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

From what you are describing, it seems that:
- hurting while peeing is indicative for urinary tract infection (UTI)
- the red gooey like blood coming from your vagina might be due vaginal infection

I advise to run:
- urine analysis and urine culture to rule out UTI
- vaginal swab testing
- trans-vaginal ultrasound

for further evaluation as you might need oral antibiotics.

For the moment, I advise to:
- keep a good vaginal hygiene
- avoid sexual intercourse until improvement
- drink plenty of fluids
- take OTC urine alkalinizers (magnesium citrate)
- use herbal tea for UTI (uva ursi, fern stone, cranberry)

Wish fast recovery!
