What Causes Occasional Sharp And Short Lasting Pain In Rectum?

default
Posted on Sat, 19 Mar 2016
Question: I occasionally got discomfort in the tip of my penis, that subsided a month ago, I'm now getting occasional pain in my rectum. It feels like the beginning of a spastic colon pain ( a sharp jabbing type of pain in the area where I have had hemroids ) but it only lasts a second or two then stops. It seems to be happening more frequently over the past few weeks.
When I had the pain in the penis the pain stopped after taking ibuprofen.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be proctalgia fugax

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
You probably have a condition called proctalgia fugax. The pain is sharp and short lasting. It's not a dangerous illness but can cause varying degrees of discomfort. Relaxation techniques, local application of analgesic creams or even a warm water bath might help.
If the pain lasts longer there are other measures also available.
Take care.
