What Causes Numbness In Tongue And Sore Swelling Inside The Lips?

Question: The tip of my tongue and inside of my bottom lip have been numb for weeks and since yesterday are sore and the inside of my lip is swollen. This seems to have started during or right after I had a head cold. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

As per your complain numbness of tongue tip along with inside of bottom lip that is now swollen and sore can be due to allergic reaction to any medicine or foods..

It can also be due to causes like Iron or Vitamin B12 deficiencies..

I would like to know a few more details so that I can guide you better..
1.Do you take any medication or do you have any medical problems?
2.Do you have ulcers or sores in mouth?
3.Do you have a dry mouth?
4.Do you have any known allergies?
5.Do you have any recent history of any dental treatment, if yes what kind of treatment you have undergone?
6.Do you also experience any loss of taste along with numbness?

1. yes, high blood pressure take Losartan 1 daily
also take Wellbutrin 300 xl 1 every other day
2. not today, but have had a canker sore or two in the last few weeks
3. i don't think so.
4. no known allergies
5. haven't been to dentist in months had tooth pulled
6. i don't think there is a loss of taste, but the area on my tongue that is numb is just the tip.

In the last hour or so, under my tongue has become numb

As per your reply the numbness can be due to causes like side effects of medicines that you are taking for a while. can also be due to blood pressure fluctuation..

You should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and first of all a proper clinical evaluation and investigations has to be done for diagnosis..

Any treatment can be effectively given to you only after a proper diagnosis is established..
