Question: my husband is 82 and has a problem with his feet he says they feel spongey and does not walk that well

You should visit a Neurologist about this problem. I think your husband has lost the feeling of crude touch. THis is generally seen in neuropathy. It may be because of nutritional deficiency or some other cause.
