Brief Answer:
Call his urologist(the doctor who put the catheter in)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the health situation your husband is going through.

The inserted catheter is often associated with UTI due to pathological bacteria going backwards and infect urine pathways inside pelvis.

Nausea is one of the signs of UTI. Others include fever, chills, changes in color/odor of urine, etc. Check if he also has them!

If I was his caring doctor would advise to consult immediately the urologist of your husband as UTI should be ruled out and treated adequately.

Call his urologist (the doctor who put the catheter in) and report this symptom to him.

Hope this helps.

My husband endured his penis about a year ago...It is bent now ..The bend is about 3 inches from the tip of the penis..When we have intercourse he has to hold it straight while entering the vagina... He has seen a doctor, but there is not anything the doctor can do...Could the bent penis cause him to retain urine and thus he had to have a catheter inserted for 10days?

Brief Answer:
Could be...however I need to know his previous health problems first...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Sorry for the late reply due to my XXXXXXX clinical overload.

Thank you for providing additional information regarding the health problems of your husband.

The problems he had with bent penis started one year ago. That can partially sustain urine from passing normally. I need to know first if he had such problems before the accident or just started recently (regarding the urine retention)?

I need to compare the status of urinary tract before and after the accident and at the moment when the symptoms started. I need also to have a look at the lab tests he did in order to come to a final conclusion.

Apart problems with urine passage in the penis, we should evaluate the status of his prostate and urinary tract in general.

Thank you.
Dr.Albana
