What Causes Lump In Neck Above Cricoid Bone?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: I have a lump on the center of my neck right above the cricoid bone or right above where my thyroid would be located. It enlarges and becomes painful it is tender to touch. It shrinks and is not painful and is barely palpable. I had difficulty swallowing in the past which was corrected with an egd and dilation. I still have difficulty with that at times. I have also had my thyroid checked my t3 t4 and tsh levels and they were all normal although at times I have symptoms of thyroid issues. Such as insomnia skin issues hair loss heart palpitations. I had a ct scan of my neck once and the doc prescribed an antibiotic because he had seen some inflammation. I'm wondering if even though my thyroid levels were normal could this lump be affecting my thyroid? And what is the lump?

Brief Answer:
Could be lymph node enlargement.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

From your description, it does not seem to thyroid gland swelling here.

However, it may be either lymph node enlargement or laryngeal swelling but it requires complete clinical examination (inspection, palpation and some time auscultation) to diagnose this swelling correctly.

So,it would be better if you can send me clinical picture of the neck lump and upload,so that I can guide you better.

Also, attach your endoscopy procedure report with CT scan if possible.

I will give my opinion after going through this reports.

Regards,
