Question: I had a recent blood test and it is showing a low hemoglobin count and they want me to see a gastronoligist??? I just had an upper GI done about 3 months ago and everthing fine for upper stomach pain. I now have had symtoms of dizziness and rapid heart rate. Why the gastronoligist?? confused I don't feel well wearing heart monitor for 2 weeks from my cardioligist and now this from family doctor. Just want to feel myself again

what would cause my red blood cell to drop like that? I have no blood in my stools or any recent surgury. Normally very active for my age. I have been on anxiety meds for a few years,i am a little hyper. Last few months feeling low and tired not myself. Dizziness and feeling faint just started a few weeks ago. I take medication for high blood presure and cholesteral.

Brief Answer:
Anemia should be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have low hemoglobin count.

Your symptoms are related to anemia and heart problems.

We have to search the cause of your anemia.

It can be due to chronic blood loss or nutritional deficiencies like iron or vitamin B12 deficiency.

First of all go for peripheral blood smear with anemia profile like serum iron, serum ferritin and vitamin B12 level.

Your upper GI endoscopy is normal and you don't have blood in stool so there may be no bleeding. But still go for ultrasound abdomen once to rule out any other pathology like uterine cause.

This work will give you exact cause of your anemia. Then you should take treatment accordingly.

Please give me follow up with your reports.
And don't worry this web site is secure.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you very good health.
