Posted on Sat, 27 Sep 2014
Question: hi, i`m a 60 year old male and about three weeks ago symptoms started--loss of appetite, gassy and bloated, and a feeling of anxiety running through my chest and abdomen. my legs and feet tingle when the anxiety (because I know of any other way to describe it) attack happens. I have been prescribed prilosec and ativan (as needed). nothing seems to help. ct scan of abdomen and blood work look good

i also cant pass gas aggravating the bloating.

Brief Answer:
Need UGI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your symptoms.
I would like to clarify a few points
1. Have you lost any weight in the past one month?
2. Do you smoke or consume alcohol is yes how often?
3.Did you get a blood glucose levels in the past one month?
4. How much was your hemoglobin level?
5. Do you exercise regularly

In would suggest to add a pro kinetic like Domeridone to your current prescription.
Since this is the first time you have experienced these symptoms and you have not responded to pirlosec I would advice you to undergo an upper GI endoscopy.
I would advice you to avoid Pain killer meds. And !ilk products for the time being

1. 17 lbs since this started

2. no smoking since 1975

3. as of 9/3 glucose 97 65-99 mg/dl

4. as of 9/3 hgb 15.8 13.1-17.2 g/dl

5. light walking and lifting

also when these (anxiety attacks) come on i feel like I must walk. I not sure if this makes me feel better but it is what I need to do. My main problem is the panic attacks but I think it is being caused by my gastro. I took Linzess this morning and after my bowel movement I went into one of those attacks that lasted about 6 hours.

forgot to mention I started taking pen vk this week for an infected tooth.

Brief Answer:
Advice Upper GI endoscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I would also like to get an ECG done to look for heart rhythm related problems
You have lost a significant amount of weight,
1. Iwould advice to get an upper GI endoscopy done.

2.If it is normal the I would suggest domperidone and continue omeprazole

3 And get a psychiatry consult for the anxiety.

As abdominal symptoms can trigger anxiety and anxiety in turn can worsen gastric symptoms.

Avoid caffeine, mint and chocolate, alcohol, red meat.
Hope this helps
