You will have to consult a GP or an ER before you gastroentrologist if things dont settle but here is the plan i can suggest to the best of my opinion.

1) Drink much water.
2) Use fibre containing foods and even fibre supplements.
3) Replace your salts well.
4) Don't take milk and meat or anything that can irritate your gut.
5) Use probiotics OTC.
6) Take simple diet like raw or boiled vegetables and fruits.
7) If there is fever or blood in stools imeediatelt contact an ER.

If things don't start getting better in 3..4 days then contact a GP or an ER to get some investigation done and medication suggested after detailed checkup.

Usually in this weather its stomach flue which gets better in couple of days.

Brief Answer:
Fever, blood in stools, worsening of condition are danger signs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,

thanks for writing back , you didnt mention that you had diverticulosis...otherwise i wouldn't have said to be stomacg flue,

Diverticuli are prone to get infected, thats why off and on one can get abdominal pains and cramps or diarrhea...

I would suggest you to follow the instructions i already gave you in my last reply... high fibre diet and fluids are main stay of management.

Body tends to recover the insult by itself.

If you don't get better in 3..4 days or if you start getting blood in stools immediately contact your doctor otherwise it will get better with time.

Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
