What Causes Itchy Vaginal Area And Smelly Discharge From Vagina?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: Hi! I had casual sex over a month ago and the condom broke. We immediately replaced it. I'm terrified of an STD, but that may be in partial fault of my anxiety and stress disorders. I'm feeling flu - like, but so have my roommate and my best friend. I'm also about to start my period, I've had what seems like a yeast infection all week and my vagina smells like bread. I've had a lot of carbs and sweets lately and not enough water. I also have what I think is razor burn on my mons pubis and labia majora - this has happened pretty much every time I shave since I started shaving at about 16 and I was a virgin. I do have a week immune system, always have (I wasn't vaccinated as a child). I hope and pray all this is exactly what I just said and not an STD. Additionally, I have had light bleeding every time I have had sex. I lost my virginity through rape and I fear he tore my cervix or messed it up with spermicide (I'm allergic). I've been tested 3 times, each one was negative. I have had one sex partner, as first stated, since my pelvic exams and I hope I'm just being anxious. Please help me figure this out!

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for your query at HCM
I am Dr Sheetal Verma answering to your query
I went through your query and understand your concern.

I believe that you are not sure about the sexual disease history of your partner that is why you are anxious. As you say your roommates have similar problem it is possible that you have viral infection of upper respiratory tract.

Take steam inhalation and nasal decongestant.

Get your throat examination done and few investigations might be needed.
As you are quite allergic it could be an allergic event also therefore take antihistamines like cetrizine, fexofenadine or loratadine once daily. Use mouth gel like chlorhexidine gluconate 4-5 times a day for gargle.

As you are saying you are having itching and smelly discharge from vagina it could be an STD related you must visit healthcare provider to take a swab and send it for microscopy examination for gramstaining and culture sensitivity test for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and fungal smear and culture also so that best treatment can be done. As your condom ruptured you can get tested for HIV by PCR and fourth generation ELISA TEST to be sure you have not contracted any infection. You can visit a gynecologist for proper evaluation of bleeding and to take sampling. Take your anti depressants on time and have a positive attitude towards the life.
Always take barrier precaution during sex. Eat healthy protein rich diet, multivitamins supplements, iron and vitamin D.
You can take flu vaccine and HPV vaccination.

Hope I answered your question.
If you have any clarifications you can discuss.
If no you can close the query and rate the answer.
Wish you best of health.
