Question: My vagina is very itchy for few days now. It also looks swollen and Pimple-like lumps are starting to appear and they are painful. I recently had a UTI and took some antibiotics for 10 days. It is my first time to experience this. What could be the cause of this?

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I understand your health issue.

It is most probably due to yeast infection which is common after broad spectrum antibiotic intake. It can be confirmed with a pap smear.

Meanwhile try the following -
- wear a cotton based underwear and change it daily
- put tablet clotrimazole 100 mg inside your vagina daily at night for 6 nights
- wash perineal region with vWash liquid after bath
- use condom while having sex
- apply candid - B ointment twice a day for 7 days or till itching persists.
- get your blood sugar levels checked
In case itching and swelling persists or worsens then visit your gynecologist for examination.

Dr Manisha
