What Causes Irritation And Itching Sensation Of Glans Penis After Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: I had protected sex with a stranger 31 days ago. At 17 days I got concerned due to red spots that appeared on my shaft. I got STD tested, and the four they tested all came back negative. At that time the nurse looked at my penis and wasn't concerned. The spots went away the next day but then I had a raw, irritated feeling for a solid week on the underside of my penis head, at the very end of my shaft. I asked other doctors online and they still weren't concerned. It finally seemed to clear up but there is still discoloration, almost like a bruise, on my glans and lots of random itching or irritation that comes and goes. I realize that might just be fueled by my imagination, noticing every little itch now. I haven't had any other symptoms that would suggest STD. No discharge, no pain urinating, no sores, no sickness. I thought everything was fine. Then last night I was asleep, and felt a sudden pain, a very sharp pain, just inside the tip of my penis. So sudden and sharp and I literally jumped in my sleep and it woke me up. It worried me and I peed, which didn't hurt, but that pain has come and gone since then. Really not sure what to make of it but it was really sharp.

Brief Answer:
Does not seem like a STD

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you had sharp pain on and off of 1 day duration and you are concerned about whether it could be related to a sexually transmitted disease.

From your history, it is clear that you have no symptoms related to a sexually transmitted disease like burning while urination, ulcers, blisters, erosions, lymph gland swellings or pus discharge from the urethra.

You have also mentioned that you had yourself tested for STD's and they all came back negative.

Moreover, you had protected intercourse.

The only possibility I can think of for the sudden sharp pains on and off is Ureteric colic. This occurs due to a stone ( calculus) in the ureter ( the part of the body which drains urine from the kidneys to the bladder). The stone sometimes passes away in the urine. If the pains recurs again, you could get an ultrasound done to rule out this possibility.

I do not think you should be concerned about a sexually transmitted disease as this symptom is not related to it.

Hope this helps you.

Take care.

Hi, so the issue I first wrote about seems to have disappeared. However, I am noticing something new. On my shaft, on the top of it, near the head, I have a small lump that seems to be underneath the skin. It's painless and I can move skin back and forth over it. But it's definitely new. More noticeable the more erect my penis is. Any idea what could be causing that?

Brief Answer:
? Cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Greetings.

I am glad the previous problem has resolved.

As far as this new lesion is concerned, from your description, it seems like a small cyst. A cyst could arise from any of the numerous glands near the penis and on the glans. If it is not troubling you, I suggest you leave it alone. It will resolve on its own in a few weeks time.

Hope this helps you.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko
