Posted on Tue, 14 Apr 2015
Question: I had a spinal fusion L 3/4. since then I am experiencing an intense nerve sensation that is so bad I can't even touch my right leg. I can't sit still and I can't sleep. I just stand and rock back and forth. I am 64 yrs old. I The only thing that brings relief for about 12 hrs at a time is a half .10mg Methadone tab. I am supposed to be on one tab 3x a day, but I break one in half and take half every twelve hours. But I don't want to be tied to trying to find a doctor who will prescribe it any longer. It has been about 6 years and enough is enough. No one seems to know what I am describing, but I can tell you it is hell.

Brief Answer:
If you didn't, you can use Pregabalin.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

When needed, opioids ( synthetic or natural) can be used for long term treatment of moderate to severe pain with the risk of dependency.

So, Methadone improves your pain you should continue it with the lowest dosage possible.

A nerve conduction study ( EMG) is necessary to understand better the nature of the damage.

If sensory symptoms are prominent, then Pregabalin ( Lyrica) could help improve your condition.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Okay, I will speak to my doctor about using Lyrica because it is definitely a nerve sensory condition and not a pain per se. Thank you, doctor.
