What Causes Instant Severe Lower Back Pain Immediately After Having Alcohol?

Question: When I consume even a sip of alcohol or any product that contents some alcohol, I get instant severe pain in my lower back and hips. It is like a sip alcohol going in and triggering a switch and the pain starts instantly. I drink only socially once or twice a month. This has started recently since a few months. what could be a possible cause and could it be a symptom of something big?

Well it can indicate either Severe Gastritis or Pancreatitis.

1. Severe Gastritis : Can occur due to repeated intake of Alcohol , coffee or Spicy food , or due to infections in the stomach or Ulcers in stomach. In this case its not only the Alcohol but also the spicy food that can trigger the pain.

2. Pancreatitis : Is a condition where Pancreas ( an Organ situated in left side of Abdomen ) gets inflammable due to repeated alcohol consumption. Classically the pain increases when alcohol is consumed.

We need to differentiate between these two conditions as treatment is different for both.

In that regard I advise you to get CT ABDOMEN PELVIS scan , Upper gastrointestinal Endoscopy scan and Serum Lipase tests done and revert back with reports.

Till then it would be better for you to avoid Alcohol totally.
