What Causes High WBC Count While On Levoflaxin?

Question: dear doctor,
this is XXXX again. i have been on levoflaxin for the last 3 weeks and everything seemed normal but then my symptoms started getting worse again. the last week i have been drinking alcohol almost every night as i was travelling for work. today i got a urine dr and the leukocytes was 3 (microscopic field) my urine never showed leukocytes in all previous test. The WBC in my semen analysis was 7 (three weeks ago it was 4) ... i have been on levoflaxin this whole time .... how did the infection get worse. My urologist suggested i stop levoflaxin and start cefixime which i did today . have ordered a urine culture .... is there any explanaition for this?i am very confused

It is due to incomplete eradication of infection

Hello
Thanks for writing again.You have been proved to have infection of Prostate (Prostatitis)
for which you have been taking Levofloxacin but have recurrence of symptoms .This is due to persistent infection of the prostate that you have .

Please note that prostatitis take long time to get cured making mandatory to take appropriate antibiotics for 3-4 months and do repeat semen culture tests and change the antibiotics as per sensitivity pattern.

Please do not worry and continue taking antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines like Diclofenac twice daily.

Thank you doctor.... I have been reading about injection of antibiotics directly into the prostate through the rectum... Giving 2500 times the dosage of antibiotics the prostate gets compared to oral. What are your views on this? Do you know anyone in dubai or Bangkok or even XXXXXXX doing this procedure?

I have not heard of following this regime of giving antibiotics injections in Prostate at least in XXXXXXX
I do not have any idea or any one giving this injection in prostate in Dubai or Bangok.
