What Causes Hard Movable Lump Above Left Collar Bone?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: About a year ago I notice a hard movable lump above my left collar bone. The lump is painless and does not seem to be attached to the skin. I saw my doctor and she didn't think it was anything to worry about and said to monitor it. The lump has gotten bigger slightly but no other changes. Two and half months ago I started having pain in my left axilla that is just a dull continuous pain 2/10 on pain scale. With excess movement of my left arm the pain will radiate down into my left breast. I went back to my doctor and she ordered a mammogram which was normal and blood work (CBC and chem 8) which were both normal. I am concerned about the new onset pain in my axilla that is not resolving on its own and don't know if it could be due to the lump on my collar bone or if something else could be going on. Should I go back to my doctor?

Brief Answer:
Lump

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to health care magic.

The lump you described seem to be lymph node enlargement. This needs to be evaluated by taking excision biopsy of the lump.

Please see a surgeon who will be able to do this.

Even is mammogram is normal there may be inflammation of lymph nodes above collar bone and axillary which are causing this problem.

Regards
