I am being treated for a possible herneated disc in my lower back, which has caused me pain for the last 4 weeks, ranging anywhere from a 3-9 on the pain scale. My question is, lately I've noticed that right before my pain elevates to the high end of the scale I experience a vibrating/buzzing sensation all over my body....is this something I should make my Orthopedic doctor aware of? This has been happening in the last week, after I saw the doctor. I'm currently on Prednisone & Muscle Relaxers. Thank you!

doctor1 MD

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read complete details of your question.

The prolapsed disc does not lead to such vibrating sensation in whole body.

These sensation can be either due to deficiency of vitamin B1,2,6,12 or this can be due to stress, anxiety or a generalized neurological disorder.

If...

For the past year probably I have had pain in my hip area. It is very dull, and almost feels like a stitch in my side. It does not do it too bad when I walk or move, I don't notice it. When I am sitting I feel it, or standing still. It is on the front right above my hip and circles around the side to my back, but just in the top of the hip area. I injured my ankle last year around Christmas, and sprained it badly. I never went and got it checked out, and just let it heal on its own. It still occasionally rolls and is very weak. I was getting sharp pain when I was getting up in that hip area after that, to the point that it made me stop moving. That has pretty much stopped. It only happens once a week maybe, but the dull achy feeling has been there for at least 6-9 months. I had an x-ray done on the area about a year ago and he said it was clear. He didn't think I needed an MRI or anything, and my complete blood panel came back good then, and came back good in February when I got checked on. Is this just muscular or what? Should I be worried about getting checked out further. My great uncle on my father's side died from bone cancer that started with pain in his hip so I am a little concerned.

Good morning, I am 13 days post-op. I have felt pretty good - pain has been tolerable (around 3-4 on pain scale), I have not been overly tired, and overall, felt descent. Since yesterday, the pain has become more intense (reminds of being in labor), and I feel rather crampy. The feeling is in lower pelvic area, and I think it is bowel related . I just finished taking 5 days worth of prednisone to treat hives that occurred since surgery. Some of my friends who had a hysterectomy told me they had some worse days in second week. What are your thoughts?

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
pain should not be intense if related to surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
You are almost 2 weeks post op. By this time, any pain related to the surgery should not be more than 2-3 on the pain scale. The kind of pain you are describing, is intense. It should not occur due to...

My husband is 79 yrs. old. Last Friday and Saturday the left side of his neck was slightly stiff. Sunday night it got progressively worse and painful. When I got up at 8 am he was in the lounge chair with an ice pack and in severe pain. He said he almost cried. When I touched his neck gently with my fingertips to put on Biofreeze, he said it was so painful it felt like a boil. (9 on pain scale). He took 50 mg of Tramadol and a few hours later 5 mg of Diazepan. I continued to lightly massage and apply Biofreeze, and by 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, he was able to find a comfortable position in bed. We think a lot of this is just from having watched TV with his head turned slightly to the left, and having been in the passenger seat of the car and turning his head to talk to the driver while on two excursions Saturday and Sunday. Today, the pain is down to a 1 or 2 on the pain scale, his temperature is normal. Would appreciate your opinion and advice, and would like to know if we should apply heat or cold. Thank you.

Should my doctor take me off of Norco 10. I've been on 3 pills a day for last 3 yrs for physical pain and emotional pain and it works well. The emotional pain results partially from the physical pain. On a 1 -10 scale the pain is usually about a 4 either in my back, or abdomen, or head. I've had 3 brain surgeries and a gamma knife procedure at UCSF

I think a trial should be given to reduce the dose
