Posted on Wed, 25 Jan 2017
Question: I am experiencing night hallucinations of someone hovering over me....usually it lasts a few seconds and then its gone.....tonight I woke my husband screaming because there was a tribal man in my face. I am 76 and have never had anything like this before. I am on gabapentin 3-4 a day isosorbid 20 mg..metroprolol 25 mg..levothyroxine 100 mg...lisinopril 40................the atorvastin and amlodipine addition was the same time these night visions started. Could those two addition cause this problem.

I have never had any mental problems or taken any medication for mental problems or anxiety. I am 76 years old and have always been basically healthy.

Brief Answer:
May be due to some brain damage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.
Amlodipine and atorvastatin are highly unlikely to cause these symptoms. If these are the culprit drugs, these symptoms should go away after changing these drugs.
Hallucinations at your age are most likely due to some brain disease. Is your blood pressure controlled?
In such a scenario, I usually recommend MRI Brain for my patients because there may be some brain damage causing this.

You can discuss these issues with your doctor.

Hope this helps.
Thanks
