What Causes Frequent Infections In Children?

Question: Hi,
My son who is 3 years old has suffering from fever every month from past 5 months and last 2 days back again he is suffering from fever (100 to 102.7 ) temparature. My doctor suggested to give Crocin DS (3.5 ml) and since yesterday night,he is suffering from Ear infection. doctor has suggest to give Augmentin DDS syrup antibiotic (3 ml). This is second time he is suffering from Ear infection.
Could you please let me know why he is suffering from fever frequently and the above suggested medicine can resolve his illness?

Viral infections are very common in this age. A normal kid can have upto 6 epoisodes of cold and viral infection with fever in a year.
There are many reasons for this
1. Immune system is still maturing upto 5 yrs
2. School exposure causes repeated viralinfection
3. Not taking flu vaccine yearly will increase the chances
4. Associated micronutrient deficiencies like anemia which causes immune incompetence

Discuss with your doctor about flu vaccine and need for treating anemia if present.
Ear infections, mostly viral can occur repeatedly too, if your doctor has prescribed augmentin , I think you can continue safely along with crocin ds
The doses you are giving are good and safe.
Continue them
