default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,

I have noticed my heart feels like it is skipping beats. I can sometimes feel it as a flutter or a dropping sensation in my chest (usually while lying down), othertimes I feel it while taking my pulse. It happens very frequently and I am very worried. I had a holter monitor 7 months ago and it was normal as well as an echocardiogram which was also normal. But since this is a new occurance I am very worried...why the change?? What do u recommend?

Brief Answer:
Please refer to the detailed answer below

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am

After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that it seems like you are having some frequent ectopic or probably some rhythm abnormality.

Although your HOLTER and Echocardiography was normal in the past its advisable to get them repeated again now particularly HOLTER MONITORING for 48 hrs to find out what's going on.

Also I would like to suggest you to get these tests done

1. Thyroid profile
2. Complete Blood Count
3. Serum electrolytes

Also importantly STOP SMOKING (If you do ) and cut down the intake of caffeine containing drinks like coffee.

I hope this information will be helpful and will guide you properly.

Kind regards
