What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements, Fever And Hot Flashes?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Dec 2016
Question: I had a some sort of stomach bug last weekend. No diarrhea, but had BM several time a day (I'm usually very regular). I'm mostly better. Still have churning, but am back to BM once a day. I mention that because it may be relevant.

Today I've had a couple hot flashes. My temperature has been bouncing between 98.5 and 99.9. I feel very tired (almost weak). In fact I've been low energy all week. My throat feels like it's slightly closing up. And my mind feels slightly fuzzy. I have no other aches or pains. No sore throat or sinus pressure (though I am prone to sinus infections).

I'm a 45 year old male living in a rural area of NY. I check for ticks regularly and have not seen any on me in a long time, though my landlord's dog is just recovering from tick paralysis, so that's in my head. I do let things like that get into my head. I'm not a complete hypochondriac but I'm sure I have some inclinations towards it. I have been on vacation all week (so I have been sleeping longer than usual, 8 hours +/-) but spent it working on projects around the apartment.

It's the hot flashes, low-grade fever, and lack of energy that concerned me. I'm not used to having those symptoms without others like sore throat or stuffy sinuses.

Thank you for any advice or suggestion on what this may be.

Brief Answer:
Get an ENT evaluation done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, it seems that you might be having upper respiratory tract infection.
I would advise that instead of Claritin that you are taking, you should take Claritin-D once a day, preferably at night. In addition, you should take paracetamol 500 mg for fever and pain and an antacid like Omeprazole 20 mg and a probiotic preparation.
Avoid cold and spicy foods.
An ENT evaluation will help in planning your further medical management.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query,I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.

Thank you. I should have said the throat closing doesn't seem to effect breathing. It's more noticeable in regard to swallowing. But again, not bad. I just wanted to head it off before it became a problem.
Thank you again for your suggestions.
